How to Use Breakout Rooms Effectively in Microsoft Teams

Introduction:

Breakout rooms allow hosts to divide meeting participants into smaller groups for focused discussions.

Learn how to create and manage breakout rooms in Teams for workshops, brainstorming sessions, and training activities.

Steps (Desktop):

    1. Start or join a meeting as an organizer.
    2. Click the Breakout Rooms icon on the meeting toolbar.
    3. Select the number of rooms to create and choose Automatically or Manually to assign participants.
    4. Click Create Rooms.
    5. Manage the rooms by clicking Open Rooms.
      • Move participants, rename rooms, or join any room as needed.
    6. Close all breakout rooms by clicking Close Rooms once the discussion is over.

Steps (Mobile):

    1. Join the meeting and tap the More Options icon.
    2. Select Breakout Rooms and set them up as described above.
    3. Manage rooms directly from the app by assigning participants or joining rooms.
